Ceramic/Materials Engineering Manager

Summary:
As the Manager Engineering, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating engineering activities related to the development of new products, processes and materials.
Role &
Responsibilities:
o Lead engineering activities to design new processes or materials, modify existing processes or materials, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
o Effectively utilize SPC tools (i.
e.
control charts, DOE's, etc.
) to maintain and improve product and process capability and quality.
o Work across corporate boundaries and organization structure to solve technical problems.
Coordinates activities across working groups for specific projects as appropriate.
o Collaborate with internal Customers, Sales, and Manufacturing groups to develop, initialize production, and provide ongoing support for new products in a Technical Service role.
o Interact with Customers, to develop new products, communicate CoorsTek technology, and provide solutions to Customer problemso Provide consistent and timely feedback, coaching and mentoring to employees on development and performance.
o Manage CoorsTek Intellectual Property issues.
Recognizes and defines new Intellectual Property.
Recommends Intellectual Property strategy (e.
g.
Patents).
o Manage the collection and analysis of process and production data to identify result discrepancies and drive continuous improvement.
o Monitor and execute departmental budget, reporting variances to leadership.
Job Requirements:
Education &
Experience:
o Bachelor's Degree in Ceramics, Material Science.
o 10 years related industry work experience or equivalent total experience preferably in the Ceramic field.
o Familiarity with Carbide and/or Silicon Carbide materials a plus.
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
o Deep understanding of materials and characteristics, including material formulations, finished material processing, and material quantification and characterization.
o Proven leader with demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving common goals.
o Ability to utilize very high language and math skills.
o Solid communication skills - written, verbal, and negotiation; ability communicate across all organizational levels.
o Proficient in Excel spreadsheets and project management software.
o Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and background.
