The Academic Advisor reports to the Dean of Communication and Arts and is responsible for general academic advising for prospective and currently enrolled students, including foundational advising for first-time entering Communication and Arts students, continuing advising for current students, transfer out advising for those continuing their education after NWACC, and advising for special populations of students-identified as needing proactive success programming.
Position will participate in integrated, cross-trained team approach to promote student success.
The position collaborates with Enrollment Services to support enrollment and student success efforts.
Conduct academic advising visits in person, virtually, and by phone Provide holistic student support for students enrolled in division programs and courses Handle confidential information with tact, discretion, and in compliance with FERPA regulations Collaborate with Enrollment Services staff to support new and continuing students and ensure continuity of service Serve as liaison between Student Services and division Serve as the primary recruiter for division programs Lead and/or attend community outreach events, such as division-sponsored events, recruitment fairs, and advisory board meetings Develop and maintain degree audits in coordination with the division dean, department chairs, and program coordinators Provide support for key academic processes in the division Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, and dean to support student recruitment and retention efforts Collect and analyze data from institutional effectiveness reports and assessments Archive reports, files, and notes using preferred institutional systems Participate in program review and accreditation efforts Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others Performs other duties as assigned Rate of pay:
$36,000 annualized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Well-developed oral and written communication skills are necessary Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices Ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines Excellent digital and interpersonal communication skills Excellent organizational, analytical and planning skills Ability to participate as a team member Ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations, and ability to adjust to change Ability to handle confidential material judiciously Understanding of education programs and tools related to community colleges Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to prioritize work independently and meet deadlines Strong analytical and computing skills are necessary Understanding of college's Human Resources and Student Services processes Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related college software and email is required Experience with facilitation of group planning efforts and facilitation strategies Physical Demands The following physical activities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
